Book Circle of Life

Lieve Blancquaert's successful trilogy is now brought together in Circle of Life, a timeless and unique book that is an ode to life in all its plenitude.

"We are born and we die. In the meantime there is the meantime. The older I get, the more I hear from fellow human beings: in that meantime, it turns out that in the end only one thing really mattered, love."

– Bernard Dewulf

"Everything in life is connected to life's milestones. What it means to be female or male, rich or poor, black or white. You learn the most about a culture by looking at birth, marriage and death and everything that happens around them."

– Lieve Blancquaert in NRC Handelsblad

Birth, love and death. These milestones in a human life are universal and yet always and everywhere unique. In the past few years, photographer and television personality Lieve Blancquaert travelled the world in search of stories about these special moments. She wanted to know how the world welcomes its children, how and why we connect and how we say goodbye. She filmed and photographed special rituals, traditions and customs and compiled the images in  much-discussed television series and the beautiful books Birth Day, Wedding Day and Last Days, which sold more than 45,000 copies. As a whole, Lieve Blancquaert's visual reports capture the essence of what makes people human.

Circle of Life is an unforgettable journey around the world, seen through the sharp and deeply human gaze of an extraordinary photographer. With beautiful images, many of which have never been published before, and with texts by Bernard Dewulf and an epilogue by Lieve Blancquaert.
